Project: Development of in vitro monitoring for candidate vaccines and identification of correlates of protection

Organisation/Institute: ImmunXperts, a Q² Solutions Company (Gosselies, Belgium)

Supervisor: Dr. Séverine Giltaire

I graduated in Molecular Biology at Università degli Studi di Milano. My education has been marked by a great passion for microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology. During my Master’s Degree thesis my main scientific interest was cell envelope biogenesis in Gram-negative bacteria. The major challenge of the project I followed was to understand the molecular architecture of the protein machinery involved in LPS transport (Lpt system) to the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. This topic is relevant not only to shed light on a critical process in bacterial physiology but also to decipher the molecular details of a process that can be targeted to develop innovative antibiotics.

I think that participating in BactiVax will burst my career and it will permit me to acquire new scientific and personal skills. I hope to find an international and stimulating working environment in which it would be great to work in. I would like to put my effort in this kind of project because antimicrobial resistance is one of the major medical problems that the world has to face in the next years and I want to give my contribution.
