Rosemary Boyton is Professor of Immunology and Respiratory Medicine at the Department of Infectious Disease, Imperial College London, UK and Honorary Consultant Physician, at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Royal Brompton Hospital & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust UK.

Prof. Boyton heads the Lung Immunology Group and works on the molecular immunology of infection and immunity. She has developed TCR, lung targeted, inducible and reporter experimental models and studies bacterial lung infection, lung remodelling, and autoimmunity.

Recent projects in the lab include: evaluating T and B cell immune correlates of protection in infection with Burkholderia and Pseudomonas; analysing the lung and gut microbiota to understand how it impacts on adaptive immunity and autoimmunity; studying the regulation of NK cells by activating and inhibitory killer cell immunoglobulin-like (KIR) receptors and understanding how HLA-peptide binding of KIR allows for pathogen and self-peptide modulated NK cell activation through altering levels of inhibition; and studying host immunity in arbovirus infection.

As an Honorary Consultant Physician on the respiratory infection team at Royal Brompton Hospital, Prof. Boyton has specialist clinical expertise in lung infection (S. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, P. aeruginosa, non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), Aspergillus fumigatus), bronchiectasis and host immunity to infection.
