Job opportunity: Senior Lecturer in Bacterial Pathogenesis with Queen's University Belfast

The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Senior Lecturer in Bacterial Pathogenesis.
The successful candidate will strengthen the academic base within the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and contribute to School and Institute administration / outreach activity. They will employ multidisciplinary and innovative approaches to advance our understanding as to how bacteria contribute to pathogenesis, chronicity, and recurrence of human disease, including antibiotic resistance.
Applicants with a background in one or more of the following areas: cellular microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, host-pathogen interaction including the immune system, and microbiome in health and disease are encouraged to apply. However, outstanding candidates in other areas will be considered, and should be able to liaise and develop projects with clinical colleagues and be keen to do discovery science by bridging clinical work and fundamental biology (biomarkers, immune responses, tissue homeostasis among other areas).
The successful candidate must have and your CV/Cover letter (or application form) should clearly demonstrate you have:
Primary Degree.
PhD in a related subject area.
Significant research experience at postdoctoral level in a relevant bacterial pathogenesis field.
Research profile which complements the infection biology portfolio of the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine (in particular, on cellular microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, host-pathogen interaction, and microbiome research).
Record of high quality publications at an international level of excellence in internationally recognised journals.
Record of successfully obtaining significant research funding or other resources to underpin research, as appropriate to the discipline, through competitive national or international peer-reviewed processes as Principal Investigator.
Experience of developing research methodologies, models, approaches and techniques.
Experience of presentations at national and international meetings and conferences.
Successful PhD supervision as Primary Supervisor.
