Paulina Zarodkiewicz obtained her B.A. (Mod.) in Microbiology from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and M.Sc in Molecular biology and biotechnology from Queen’s University Belfast, UK. Her previous research focused on testing the tolerance of Salmonella Typhimurium to antipsychotic drugs and uncovering a novel resistance mechanism of Burkholderia cenocepacia.

Paulina is particularly interested in mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in Gram negative bacteria and the development of vaccines to ‘ESKAPE’ the increasing threat of antibiotic resistance.

Currently, she is working with Professor Miguel A. Valvano at Wellcome-Wolfson Institute For Experimental Medicine, Queen’s University Belfast, UK.
